3 things that kept me away from blogging

I blame college for my busy schedule lately. I have two terms left and I wanted to make sure that all goes well. I’ve neglected many things and I’m sorry that I’ve neglected this blog. Homework has piled up along with other personal stresses but I really want to share more things about my life even as a student on this blog. I hope you come back and read some of the future and old posts.

So the 3 things that kept me away from blogging?

#1 School

The number one thing that kept me away from blogging! We all know that we just had a very interesting U.S. election. As a political science major, you can assume that this election is widely talked about in my University. On top of all these craziness, I’ve also been busy with my papers, midterms, projects, and so much more school related. This has been a huge chunk of my time and one of the main reasons why I haven’t been blogging regularly. I haven’t forgiven myself all that much yet.

#2 Photography

I recently bought a midgrade Micro 4/3 camera and have been practicing my photography. The solace that I take from not blogging regularly is that I have been practicing my photography skills to improve this blog in the future.

Lately, I have been very interested in street photography and have been independently studying many photographers online. I have been stuyding it all and practicing. I want to bring an element of street photography in this blog and not just your cliche travel and lifestyle photography.

I’m excited to grow in this field and show you guys some of my amateur and novice work. I hope you’ll like it!

#3 Learning French

Jessica and I are going to U.K. and France next year. We will be there for a whole month and even though I learned French in school and through independent learning, I really have ramped it up to a whole other level. I have been focusin on listening and reading a lot.

I feel that I may be able to speak a sentence here and there but if I couldn’t understand who I’m conversing with, then what is the point? So I’m using many tools such as LingQ (which I highly recommend), Easy French on YouTube, Duolingo, and French radio and films.

So I hope I get to improve my listening and reading comprehension soon. Wish me luck! I’ll let you know of my progress!

That’s what I’ve been up to lately

I really want to focus on this blog as soon as possible; and as soon as final exams are over and we can get to the joy of the holidays. It can get quite hard to be a college student and a travel and lifestyle blogger at the same time. At least for me. For all of you who are doing well with this, I give you major props! But hey, I won’t make excuses. I don’t want to be away from blogging!

So what have you been up to lately? What’s been keeping you occupied? Do share!

I love your idea of bringing street photography as part as your blog. Street photography is one of the genres in photography that capture the genuineness of everyday life of people.

Such a great post! I agree, there are lots and lots of things that keeping us away from blogging sometimes, but we have to stop and think for a minute why did we even start it, then it would be easier to go back and keep it going. By the way, your photography skills are on point! Love all the shots you’ve made.

Yes it is tought finding the right time and balance as there is so much that goes into blogging. Not just write a post and be done with it. Take your time, write when you can and when you have more free time, write more post and schedule them to be posted during busy times.

Thanks for the motivation. I completely agree with your advice!

Thanks, Katja. Yes, I’ve been focusing on listening and reading to improve my comprehension. I thought that I might be able to say a few things but if I don’t understand the responses, then there’s no point to try and have a meaningful conversation in French. I hope you’re doing well 🙂
