5 Things I Look Forward to This Year

The year of 2016 was such a great one for us: we traveled a lot, spent quality time with friends and family, excelled in school, and succeeded in our side projects. We also learned a lot about many things such as cooking, photography, budgeting, and so much more. We can only hope (but we’re very optimistic) that the year of 2017 will be just as good to us. So here are 5 things I look forward to this year.

5 Things I Look Forward to This Year of 2017

Last year we traveled to the Pacific Northwest (Seattle and Portland) and Northern California (Morgan Hill, San Jose, San Francisco, Monterey Bay, Big Sur). We also drove down the coast and enjoyed the sights. We have also traveled to New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut (and a little bit of Rhode Island), and Las Vegas. This was our 2016! Here’s what I look forward to in 2017!

U2 Joshua Tree 2017 at the Rose Bowl

It’s just always a thrill to see my favorite band. I’ve seen them three times and I think that as long as they tour, I will have to keep going to their concerts. U2 will be back in the Los Angeles area (at the Rose Bowl) on May 20th and I can’t wait to go. We still haven’t gotten the tickets but the pre-sale starts today at 9:00am. I will update this post once we get our tickets. Let’s hope for general admission!

UPDATE 1: We didn’t get the tickets for General Admission (Floor) so we have to see what’s out there in the coming days. We’re pretty disappointed but we WILL find a way to see U2 one way or another!

UPDATE 2: We checked Ticketmaster again and tried our pre-sale code from U2.com. While there were no General Admission floor tickets available at the Rose Bowl, we still managed to get nosebleed seats. But great news, we found general admission tickets for the Seattle show and yes, we’re going to Seattle now too! It’ll be a little bit of a nostalgic trip again since the first concert Jessica and I saw together was the U2 360 Tour in Seattle, 2011. This will be awesome!

Europe

things to look forward to: London, United Kingdom

The day after the U2 concert, we are flying to London to kick-off our European trip. We are so excited for this trip that this month, we are planning a solid itinerary with the help of many of you in the bloggosphere. We will be in France for about 17 days, 5 days in Scotland, and 8 days in London. This should be a lot of fun. We consider this an early graduation present. So, I would like to say thanks to my family for contributing a little bit to the travel fund!

East Coast Trip with Mom and Aunt

My aunt from Australia is visiting us again this year and this time, she is going to New York for some fun. My mom decided that she wanted to go to New York as well so I guess Jess and I are going too! Looking forward to spending time with my siblings and seeing some friends in the east coast again.

Earning our Bachelor’s Degree

Jessica and I are on-track to get our Bachelor’s Degrees. Jessica is getting her B.A. in Communication Studies while I am getting mine in Political Science. After years of hardwork and really refraining from getting help from our families, we are finally getting that expensive piece of paper.

The thing is: I have to take the GRE and apply to graduate school as soon as possible. So wish me luck!

Internships and Jobs

Jessica is planning to apply for some internships in the area before graduating. She is interested in applying to Disney and some other local companies in the greater Los Angeles area. It would be just so exciting to see what is out there for us. As an aspiring teacher, I am excited to network and see what jobs are available out there for me.

I’m sure there’s more to look forward to…

These are the five things I could think of at this time. I’m sure plans change and there would be more to look forward to. However, I think these five things are just so exciting and remain to be those things to keep in mind when we’re in a bit of a rut.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I’m absolutely LOVING this European road trip you’ve got ahead of you. Scotland is absolutely stunning so if you can, try and drive from one place to another. We drove from Chester to Edinburgh in October and the scenery is just so stunning and the little villages and pit stops on the way totally made it worth the 4,5 hour ride.

Ahhh, this year sounds so exciting for you two! In a lot of ways my two favorite parts AF the year (or a trip) are looking forward and looking back. I guess I’m not really a live-in-the-moment kinda gal. I’m working on it, haha. I cannot wait to see all the recaps and pictures!! Happy new year!! Also, a u2 concert sounds like the real deal to me!!! HOW fun!!!! You must be stoked!!! 😀

What a fantastic year you have planned! Hope you are successful in getting your U2 tickets,I love their music but have never seen them live so I’m a tiny bit jealous that you have seen them a few times. Where are you headed in Scotland? I live just outside Aberdeen so if you are up this way then let me know. I’ve always wanted to go to New York, I bet you will have an amazing time there. 🙂

    • Ron

Hi Denise! Yes, we did get the U2 tickets. We got general floor admission in Seattle and nosebleeds at the Rose Bowl. We’re so excited for it.

We are going to be in Edinburgh for about five days. I think it’s a little far away from Aberdeen isn’t it?

      I hope you’re well 😀

Good luck with all your studies! I have taken my GRE a few times and the best advice I can give is to really just use common sense & don’t overthink the test going into it. Can’t wait to see pictures from your traveling abroad! Love this post.

    • Ron

Thank you for that advice, Brittany. Will keep that in mind 🙂
