The first half of the year is almost over and in a few weeks, summer will be finally here! This means, we will see a lot of events around Southern California, a few festivals, museum exhibits, time at the beach, and much more. Summer makes us feel more alive than ever but I guess that’s just the heat down in SoCal. So, we have quite a few summer plans and we hope we get to do all these things this year.
June Summer Plans
In Southern California, June is fairly warm. The intense heat of the late summer will not affect us just yet. I think this is the perfect time to go sightseeing in San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara. According to my phone’s weather app, the weather for most of June will be in the 80’s. Here are few things we hope we get to do:
We used to go a lot to this wonderful theme park as it is just 15 minutes away from where we live. Yes, we see the fireworks almost every night. We hope we get to go to Disneyland again and just enjoy what the theme park has to offer. It’s been about two years since we’ve been there. Some say, it’s changed quite a bit.
We’re looking forward to a Dole Whip, especially in the warmth of June. We have to get some Disney beignets, churros, and pickles too.
The beach city of Santa Barbara is one of our favorite cities in California. The laid back atmosphere of the city never fails to entice us. We’d like to spend more time by the beach and take the time to visit the museums. Maybe have a few margaritas before sunset.
If you live in California, Santa Barbara is a must visit.
Anaheim Farmers Market
Fruits and vegetables are not really my favorite things in the world but when you can smell them fresh at the farmers markets, it’s a whole different deal. Anaheim has a farmers market running ever Thursday. We’d love to try out some of these fruits and vegetables and share with you what our favorites were. Or at least what Jessica liked.
July Summer Plans
As of now, our July summer plans is not as full since saving money for New York will be our number one priority. However, July might be the month where we spend time in Orange County beach towns and just have coffee while looking over the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
San Juan Capistrano, California
I personally haven’t been to San Juan Capistrano but I heard that it is a quaint town with a beautiful Spanish Mission. We look forward to seeing this sharing what we learn about the town with you.
All our love seems to go to Santa Barbara while there is a city 30 minutes down south that is just as unique and charming. I would love to spend more time in Ventura and actually enjoy beach area this summer. So yes, this is a must do for us!
New York City (End of June to Early August)
My dad was from New York and my siblings still live there. Jessica and I will travel to the city for personal reasons but I’m sure we will have enough time to see many things. It will be hot since it’s going to be in the mid/late summer which I hope does not deter me from walking around the city.
Looking forward to trying out many kinds of food, especially in Queens.
August Summer Plans
It’s Jessica’s birthday month so we have to make the most of it and rock it!
We have planned to go with friends to Las Vegas for Jessica’s birthday. We will be staying at Aria for the first time and we’re looking forward to it. It’s been a while since we stayed on the strip and it’s also been a while since we’ve celebrated something with friends. We hope they can come. We’re also planning to visit family there.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Hollywood
Jessica and I are big fans of Harry Potter. We’ve read the books, seen the movies, and follow Pottermore and J.K Rowling herself. When they announced that they are opening a Wizarding World of Harry Potter, we had to make sure that include it in our summer plans. If time and budget permits, we hope to see it this summer and try some of that butterbeer!
By the end of August, we will be back in school and working again on that degree. I particularly look forward to that since I get mighty anxious when I’m not working on some research or project. I’m weird that way.
